How to obtain an e-referral online

  1. Book teleconsultation

    Choose an online consultation slot and describe the reason and planned tests (if you know them from a previous visit).

  2. Medical consultation

    The doctor takes a history, assesses whether the test is indicated and whether it can be ordered without physical examination.

  3. E-referral issuance

    If justified, the doctor issues an e-referral to the P1 system. You receive a code for the laboratory or imaging centre.

  4. Test completion

    You book at a chosen private provider (non-NFZ service) or according to reimbursement rules if eligible. The platform does not guarantee provider appointment times.

Pricing

Teleconsultation during which a doctor may issue an e-referral currently starts from 99 PLN (rate depends on specialty). Tests are paid separately to the provider. Consultation price is shown before payment.

Scope and limitations

This mainly covers basic diagnostics (blood tests, ultrasound, chest X-ray, etc.) ordered outside NFZ or as commercial services. It does not replace full hospital diagnostics.

Referral to a specialist (e.g. cardiologist) usually requires prior consultation and often preliminary tests — the doctor may suggest general teleconsultation first.

The doctor will not issue a referral on demand without medical justification. Advanced imaging (e.g. CT, contrast MRI) may require an in-person visit.

In emergencies (chest pain, stroke, severe injury) do not wait for teleconsultation — call 112.

Can I get a referral without talking to a doctor?
No. E-referrals are issued only after medical consultation — teleconsultation or visit. We do not offer a quick referral-only pathway.
Which tests can I be referred for?
Most often basic diagnostics: blood count, biochemistry, urine, ultrasound, chest X-ray, etc. Scope depends on history and the doctor's decision.
Is the referral NFZ-reimbursed?
An e-referral may include reimbursement coding if you meet insurance conditions and the doctor finds indications. Many people use commercial non-NFZ tests and pay the provider directly.
Can I request CT or MRI referral?
The doctor assesses indications individually. Advanced imaging often requires physical examination or prior results.
How do I use an e-referral?
You receive a 4-digit code and use your PESEL at the laboratory or imaging centre — as after an in-person visit.
Can the doctor refuse to issue a referral?
Yes. A referral must have clinical justification. The fee covers consultation, not the document.
Can I extend an old referral?
E-referral validity is regulated by law. After expiry a new consultation and referral are often needed.
Can specialist referral also be online?
A doctor may issue specialist referral after teleconsultation if appropriate. Basic diagnostics is often required first.
